This was the final episode of the show and the final episode I would get to see and it wouldn't be until I was almost 30 years old too.  Having said that I think it was a pretty fine episode.  A Nick Fury cameo at the end might have been nice, but hey...I'm over it.  Also another new villain created just for the show.  I don't know.  I think it is great that the writers were trying to stretch creatively but I always think, "Well there went an opportunity for a villain like the Lizard or Vulture."  Instead we get Buzz Mason.  Still not a bad story although the drama seems a bit forced with Iceman being a little over dramatic at times.  In the end it all works out and Iceman and his sister mend their relationship and all is well in the Spider-Friends Universe. WAY too many of these third season episodes took themselves too seriously. Don Glut once told me that, when they were starting the first season of this show, the story editor told them it was to be a comedy first and foremost.  Spidey was to be Bing Crosby.  Iceman was to be Bob Hope and Firestar, Dorothy Lamour.  (In homage to the Road pictures.)  This concept was either forgotten or reconsidered in the third season.  Regarding this episode; it's well written, but like the others of the third season it gets a bit too over-dramatic at times.  I like that a little history was added to Iceman and would actually like to have seen Lightwave used in another episode if there had been any more.  We didn't really get to know the character very well since she was hypnotized the whole time!  ...and in a S.H.I.E.L.D. related episode, an appearance by Nick Fury is a must. I'm not as forgiving as Mark.

Mark, Jon, I agree with you both.  I do like ‘Mission: Save The Guardstar’ but as a last ever episode I feel it is just a little better than average.  Perhaps they didn’t know for sure that this would be the final episode when they made it.  It was good to learn more about Bobby and although, as Jon said, we didn’t really get to know the character very well, I did like the introduction of Lightwave.  Like the guys said, I think it is slightly over dramatic at times but I have always found this to be an enjoyable episode and one I remember really liking as a kid.
